My apartment building is situated in a neighborhood that is historical. It’s really out of place this big brick building amongst sidewalks, green grass, and older homes that are well maintained.
The building has 80 apartments in it one of which is mine. I’m really tickled pink to be living here. It’s because of the amenities. It offers so much. I am getting more than my money’s worth out of it.
My Uncle took me and my mother on two different cruises the year before the pandemic hit and I can’t help but compare my apartment building to the cruise ships.
First of all it’s community living. All of the people in their apartments(cabins) are contained in a large vertical dwelling.
We see each other in the hallways and on elevators.
There is a social room, a lobby, a laundromat, and a mailbox all on the first floor.
While Cruise ships have evening shows and entertainment, my apartment building schedules activities with a free lunch at least once a month.
There is transportation that takes you to various places in town via the Senior bus. Going into town is like an island excursion off of the cruise ship.
If you have a car there is plenty of off-street parking. The grounds are landscaped with two gazebos.
The neighborhood is ideal for walking my dog.
I guess what I’m trying to say is where I live is very functional, as a cruise ship is.
Living can be harder as a person gets older and so many of my needs are met here in my apartment building/cruise ship so I worry less.
When I want to be social, I put on my best dress.
Invite a neighbor to tea.
Have enlightening conversation, so they can see.
We all live alone yet we live as one.
I think I’m going to stay here. A place where living is fun 🤩
